Kinect for Xbox 360, or simply
Kinect (originally known by the code name
Project Natal (pronounced
/nəˈtɒl/ nə-tahl)), is a "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform. Based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands,
 or
presented objects and images. The project is aimed at broadening the Xbox 360's audience beyond its typical gamer base.
Kinect is scheduled to launch worldwide starting with North America on November 4, 2010, with system purchase options including a bundle of a Kinect sensor with the game Kinect Adventures (US$149.99, €149.99 or GB£129.99) and Console bundle with a 4 GB Xbox 360 console, a Kinect sensor, and Kinect Adventures (US$299.99, €299.99, GB£249.99). Kinect launch games will retail for US$49.99 in the United States and GB£39.99 in the United Kingdom.
